Modular Shopping Center

The Design Competition called for a series of Model Community Retail Centers, in a range of sizes, with each model being capable of phased expansion over time. The prototypes should display an awareness of and innovative solutions to the challenge of truly sustainable development.

We recognize that the approach to Retail Environments is constantly evolving and changing and that retail developments must engage, entertain, serve and even amuse increasingly sophisticated and demanding communities. We understand the psychology behind communication with consumers and the complexities of market trends. Design of the retail environment is a powerful branding tool. Communications, color, signage, layout and display, all influence customer perception. We have developed a Modular Solution to expansion of the various Models and it can be seen from our submission drawings that we have not demonstrated all of the possible permutations of the modular system.

We have indicated diagrammatically a range of different scaled centers and how these centers can be phased over time. We have then selected one of these sizes, in the mid range – 10,000 m² built up area, and developed up this model to demonstrate its scale and character in more detail.
